IDIBELL is looking for a Research Technician for the Early Detection of Cancer Group
About the research group
The Early Detection of Cancer group is embedded in the Cancer Screening Unit, engaged in the implementation, management, and evaluation of population-based screening programs. We aimed to detect incipient tumors among the population in order to reduce cancer mortality.
Our commitment is to reduce the impact of cancer by facilitating early diagnosis of the disease. Therefore, we must ensure accessibility to testing, continuity, and quality throughout the screening process.
Research related to cancer screening programs is a key element for improving screening. In the last few years, our research has focused on evaluating communication strategies in population-based screening programs to achieve informed participation (MTICS and MTICS-2 projects).
About the role
- Support projects led by postdoctoral members
- Participate in group meetings and scientific discussions
- Support writing manuscripts together with other researchers and the PIs
- Engage in career development activities, outreach and soft-skill training
Job requirements
Candidates must be people under 30 years of age, unemployed and registered as job seekers in the State Public Employment Service (SEPE) at the time of starting the contract and cannot have worked at IDIBELL in the 6 months prior to the start of the contract.
Professional experience
- Experience in the development of research activities
Education and training
- CFGS in laboratory or similar
- Training in Public Health and Epidemiology
Technical & soft skills
- Excellent abilities of working in group and individually
- Initiative and motivation to develop the projects in efficient and collaborative manner
- To be able to multitask and prioritize
- Good command of basic MS Office tools
Languages
- Good command of Spanish and/or Catalan languages
- Good command of the English language
We will value, but not required
- Bachelor degree preferably in Health Sciences (Medicine, Public Health, Nursing, Psychology, Biomedical Sciences, etc.)
- MSc in Epidemiology or Public Health
- Interested in doing a future PhD
- Experience in database management

Selection process
- Pre-selection: The pre-selection process will consist on an eligibility check based on qualifications and expertise reflected on the candidate's CV.
- Interview: Best positioned, pre-selected candidates may be called to arrange an interview. Candidates will be interviewed by the hiring manager and an ad hoc selection panel.
