IDIBELL is looking for a Laboratory Technician to participate a project entitled “Molecular profiling and Immunophenotyping as predictors of outcome in non-metastatic salivary gland carcinomas (REDESIGN)”

About the Unit

The candidate will have the opportunity to work within the Hereditary Cancer Group (https://idibell.cat/en/research/cancer-area/molecular-mechanisms-and-experimental-therapy-in-oncolog...), under the supervision of Dr. Conxi Lázaro.

The overarching goal of the Hereditary Cancer group at IDIBELL is to gain insight into the molecular basis of hereditary cancer, to personalize risk assessment to patients and relatives, as well as to individualize management regarding follow-up, treatment and prophylactic measures.

Successful candidates will join dynamic, young and well-equipped research groups with strong interactions and multidisciplinary research. About the role

REDESIGN is a multicenter multidisciplinary translational study aiming to 1. characterize the molecular and immune profiling of non-metastatic SGCs at diagnosis and 2. evaluate their role as predictors of recurrence for risk stratification in a retrospective cohort of 150 patients consecutively diagnosed and treated with curative intent at the head and neck cancer units of 3 TTCC sites (ICO Hospitalet, ICO Badalona and Hospital Clinic) between 2010 and 2020.

The candidate will work in the following aims:

1-) performing DNA extractions of FFPE samples

2-) performing NGS libraries of 150 samples with 324-gene NGS panel to detect mutations, copy number alterations, gene rearrangements, genomic signatures (ie. tumor mutational burden

3-) controlling database of samples and sequencing runs

Job requirements

Professional experience

• Experience in molecular technologies: DNA and RNA isolation and analysis.
• Working experience and knowledge about genetics and NGS pipelines

Education and training

• Higher level training cycle in clinical diagnosis (CFGS Laboratori de diagnòstic clinic)

Technical skills

• Advanced technical skills in laboratory work
• Advanced skills in NGS

Languages

• Good command of the English language

We will value, but not required

• Experience in human genetics and molecular biology (including cancer biology).
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  
• High motivation and ability to be involved in a multidisciplinary team.
